The last decade’s better obstetric routines and neonatal intensive care have resulted in much better prognosis and survival for the smallest and tiniest babies. New techniques have also improved the quality of care and outcome. But prematurity and other neonatal diseases can lead to future morbidity including problems with lungs, feeding, growth and neurodevelopment.
